Our team is comprised of a diverse mix of people with the collective goal of supporting people who are negatively impacted by homelessness and poverty. Two of our three trustees have lived experience of these issues and our founder was born and bread within the community that Hearts and Helpers provides for.
Adrian White is the founder of Hearts and Helpers and is the product of the hardworking, low-income family born and bred within the Ponders End community that Hearts and Helpers supports. With deep roots and extensive knowledge of the local context, Adrian's upbringing fuels his dedication to his community. Witnessing the hardships endured by locals during the COVID-19 pandemic, he rallied like-minded individuals to provide essential support, distributing food parcels and aiding those facing eviction. Adrian's longstanding commitment to serving others, evident through his involvement in mentoring, community events, and founding our charity. Under his guidance, the Hearts and Helpers has flourished, implementing vital initiatives such as rough sleeper outreach, food assistance programs, and establishing our wellbeing services. Working with our beneficiaries, Adrian's vision and leadership continue to drive the charity's mission of making a tangible difference in the lives of people struggling with poverty and homelessness.
Lois Anderson's journey from being a teen mother living in a hostel to becoming a teacher and Assistant Head is a testament to her resilience and determination. Having experienced firsthand the challenges of establishing a life without a stable income and a young child to care for, Lois deeply understands the exceptional struggles faced by our beneficiaries. Lois's ability to empathise with the difficulties faced by those experiencing homelessness and poverty is invaluable, driving her dedication to providing meaningful support and opportunities for individuals and families striving to rebuild their lives.
Jubedul's journey from living in a crowded flat with a large low-income family to being evicted due to local regeneration showcases his resilience and adaptability. Having experienced firsthand the complexities of navigating government support systems and working with the council to secure accommodation for his young family, Jub brings invaluable insight to Hearts and Helpers Charity. Now serving as the Home Services Manager for Southern Housing, a social housing provider, his lived experience of insecure housing and deep understanding of the social housing landscape are invaluable assets. Jub's dedication to supporting individuals facing similar challenges underscores his commitment to making a difference in the lives of those affected by homelessness and poverty.
Hearts and Helpers owes its success to the diverse range of volunteers, from many different backgrounds, who dedicate their time and expertise to our cause. From individuals with specialised knowledge offering guidance to those who pitch in with everyday tasks, each volunteer plays a crucial role in our operations. Since our inception, these generous individuals have been the driving force behind our growth, going above and beyond to support the community we serve. Their collective efforts have made Hearts and Helpers a force for good.
